I originally started my Blog “Synergy” with the intention of sharing my personal experiences with the paranormal, in hopes of starting a dialogue with others who might then be inspired to share their own personal experiences with me. So after taking a short detour (almost two years now) I am now refocused and ready to continue where I left off.

In a later post I will share with you my thoughts on why I believe I have had these encounters with the supernatural and how they have influenced and/or affected my life. All I will say for now is that at specific times in my life, my dreams have in some way either linked these incidents together, or acted as a guide…premonition if you will.

That said I will now share with you my second paranormal experience.

I was thirteen may be fourteen years old at the time. At that age I was neither dabbling with nor did I have any understanding of the paranormal or the occult. In the days before Sony Walkmans then the iPod, if you wanted to listen to music late at night while lying in bed, you had to have your stereo next to your bed. So it was that many a night before I retired for the night, I would put on my favorite album (usually Kiss or Black Sabbath) and rock my ass off.

On one such night I was lying in bed with the lights off and the headphones cranked as loud as they would go, when I heard whistling. I didn’t initially give it much thought, but the second time I heard it, I pulled my headphones off my head and looked around the room but saw nothing and no one else was in the room with me. I shrugged it off put my headphones back on and cranked the volume, but a few seconds later, I begin hearing the whistling again, and not just a whistle, but someone whistling a melody. I suddenly flashed backed to images of my mother walking into my room in the morning while I had the stereo cranked and though I could not hear her, I could see her lips moving and knew she was yelling at me to get up and get ready for school. Then it struck me, if I couldn’t hear my Mothers pleas for me to get up, how is it that I was now able to hear someone whistling a soft melody while I had the music blistering loud. I started to become very anxious and sensing something was not right, I began looking around the darkened room, when suddenly standing next to me, standing right next to my bed was what I can only describe as a man wearing a long sleeve gold shirt, his arms extended forward parallel to the ground with handcuffs around his wrist and black trousers on. Only one other problem, there was not a body inside the clothes. If you ever watched the old Invisible Man movies with Claude Rains, you might recall the scenes wherein he is walking around the room with clothes on but you are not able to see his body. The clothes are filled and erect but no body is visible. That is what it looked like. I’m began panicking and scared shitless, (sorry no other way to describe it) my first instinct was jump out of bed, run down the hall to my parents bedroom and tell them about what I had just seen. Only problem was that only a few day earlier a few of my cousins myself included, had been busted for smoking pot. Knowing their first reaction would be to assume I was high on drugs and hallucinating (this was the seventies and most parents at that time didn’t know jack about marijuana or what it felt like to be high), I did what any kid in my position would do. I pulled the covers over my head, prayed and hoped that it would disappear. A few minutes later I peeked out from under the covers and the apparition was gone.

Just for the record, I swear here and now that I was not high on marijuana (or anything else for that matter) and I never did tell my parents about what I had seen that night.

For awhile afterward I wondered if what I’d seen was a ghost, or a premonition of my future. I’m happy to say…it must have been a ghost.
